CTx3 Anticavity Rinse

April 3rd, 2016

Many of our patients ask us if there are any special rinses or toothpastes they can use while they undergo orthodontic treatment.

As we all know, oral hygiene is very important, especially if you have braces. We recently came upon a new product developed by researchers of caries management, called CTx3 Anticavity Rinse. It also comes in gel and paste forms depending on your use preference.

What this product does is target the main causes of dental caries: demineralization, high sugar presence, and acidity of the oral cavity. The CTx3 line includes fluoride, xylitol, and pH neutralization.

Dr. Mozafari is highly impressed with this new product, heavily backed by research. We will be offering samples of the CTx3 Rinse in office soon!

Orthodontic Treatment Options

December 4th, 2015

If your teeth need straightening or jaws are misaligned, orthodontists can acquaint you with different treatment options.

Orthodontics can straighten your teeth and align your jaws for a healthier, more comfortable smile. Dr. Setareh Mozafari, our Cupertino orthodontist, offers free initial consultation to identify problem areas so that she can recommend the best treatment plan for your needs. Your individual treatment plan may include either traditional braces or Invisalign.

Traditional braces consist of brackets and wires to move your teeth into proper alignment. Brackets are made of metal or tooth-colored materials. Dr. Mozafari will need to make regular adjustments to move your teeth gradually and bring your teeth and jaws into perfect alignment.

Invisalign consists of series of clear aligners made of plastic material, which will progressively move your teeth into proper alignment. Each set of Aligners are worn for about two weeks before being exchanged for a new set. Aligners need to be removed when eating and brushing.

Why You Need Orthodontic Treatments

September 20th, 2015

Orthodontic treatment is used to improve appearance as well as the ability to speak and chew properly. After having their teeth corrected, patients often report feeling more confident about themselves. Childhood and adolescence are the best times to pursue orthodontic treatment because it helps guide oral development, but patients of any age can gain numerous benefits from having their teeth corrected.

Signs That You May Need Orthodontic Treatment

A variety of issues can signal the need for orthodontic treatment. Other common reasons to explore orthodontic options include jaw problems, speaking difficulty, severe enamel wear and uneven facial structure.  If you are currently unhappy with how your teeth look, orthodontic treatment can permanently change your smile for the better. If you have ever had habits that can affect oral development, such as mouth breathing or thumb sucking, you may see major aesthetic improvements from having your teeth corrected. Other common reasons to explore orthodontic options include jaw problems, speaking difficulty, teeth grinding and uneven facial structure.

Modern Orthodontic Options

Orthodontic patients can choose from a variety of treatments to correct their teeth today. Traditional metal braces, lingual braces, tooth-colored braces and virtually invisible aligners are among the most popular types of orthodontics available. Your candidacy for each of these treatments depends on the types and degree of bite irregularities as well as your treatment goals.

At any age, orthodontic treatment can be a valuable improvement to not only your self-confidence but also your oral and overall health. No matter which treatment you choose, you will receive the same degree of correction and all of its benefits. By scheduling a consultation with Dr. Mozafari, orthodontist in Cupertino, you can learn more about your orthodontic treatment options and discuss your candidacy for treatments that interest you. Initial consultation is free.

When should I Get an Orthodontic Consultation for My Child?

September 18th, 2015

arents always ask, “When should I get an orthodontic consultation for my child?” The answer is earlier than you might think, because some problems, when identified early, can be corrected much more efficiently before your child has lost all their baby teeth.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children receive an orthodontic check-up around age of 7 for the following reasons:

•    Orthodontists can spot subtle problems with jaw growth and emerging teeth while some baby teeth are still present.

•    A check-up may reveal that your child’s bite is fine. Or, the orthodontist may identify a developing problem but recommend monitoring the child’s growth and development, and then, if indicated, begin treatment at the appropriate time for the child. In other cases, the orthodontist might find a problem that can benefit from early treatment.

While crowded and misaligned teeth are well-known signs of orthodontic problems in children and adults, there are other orthodontic problems which might be less noticeable. Losing baby teeth early or late can be a sign of eruption problem or teeth that do not meet normally or a facial appearance
that seems imbalanced, can perhaps indicate the need for orthodontic treatment. Children who are having difficulty chewing and biting, breathe through their mouths, or suck their thumbs may also benefit from an evaluation.

Taking steps to correct these orthodontic problems early can make later orthodontic treatment easier to manage and can reduce the need for more extensive treatments and procedures. Signature orthodontics is conveniently located in Cupertino, serving patients from Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Campbell, Saratoga, San Jose, Los Gatos, Los Altos, Santa Clara and Mountain View as well as other surrounding towns. Adults and Orthodontic Treatments

July 6th, 2015

These days, more and more adults are seeking orthodontic treatment. No matter your age, our orthodontist can provide orthodontic care. The long-term health benefits of this care include a lessened risk for gum disease and tooth decay.

Many people spend their entire lives dreaming about healthier smiles, while an increasing number of adults are turning to orthodontic treatments to help them get the smile they have always wanted. In fact, according to the American Dental Association, nearly half of all new orthodontic patients are adults. Dr. Mozafari, our orthodontist in Cupertino, can help you decide if orthodontic treatment is right for you.

When it comes to a happy healthy smile, it’s never too late, and you are never too old! Dr. Mozafari offers different orthodontic options that allow you to complete treatment more discreetly. Traditional braces, translucent braces, Invisalign and other options may all be available for your needs. Not all orthodontic treatments may be right for all patients or all orthodontic issues.

Orthodontics can effectively treat crossbites, overbites, underbites as well as crowded teeth, gapped teeth and crooked teeth. Teeth that fit together properly tend to be healthier and less likely to develop gum disease and tooth decay because they are easier to clean. Because they fit together properly, they are less likely to develop excessive wear or damage due to bite abnormalities.

Dr. Mozafari is serving patients from the entire Silicon Valley, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Campbell, Saratoga, San Jose, Las Gatos, Los Altos, Santa Clara, Mountain View and surrounding towns. Contact us today to find out more or to schedule your consultation.
